Welcome to Year 4 2023- 2024
We were proud to present the Advent assembly at the beginning of December and to spread the true meaning of Christmas. We enjoyed being involved in speaking, singing and drama. We really enjoyed Advent Day where we engaged in a variety of Christmas art activities.
This term we have studied a variety of Roald Dahl texts both in our English and Reading sessions. ‘James and the Giant Peach’ has been an excellent stimulus for a range of writing. We have written narratives, diaries, non-chronological reports, instructions and poems. We really enjoyed our visit to Aylesbury museum to visit the Roald Dahl exhibition and learnt lots about this life and works.
In Science, we have recently become electricity experts, investigating circuits, conductors and insulators and switches.
We thoroughly enjoyed our forest school sessions. We observed trees and leaves , built dens and made the most amazing nativity scenes with natural materials.
In Music, we are making really good progress with learning the Ukelele and accompanying a variety of tunes.
What a busy term we have had!
The children are taught by Mrs Richards on a Monday and part of Tuesday, which releases me for my planning and preparation session and leadership time. I then teach the children for the remainder of the week. I am assisted by Mrs Kogut, who supports individuals and groups but may also work across the school helping with interventions.
Please do arrange to see me if you have any concerns. If it is a short matter of information, please email via the school office. If you would prefer to talk something through with me then please ask for an appointment. The best times for this is a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday after school.
Kind regards,
Mrs C Opiola
