Pupil Premium Policy Statement
At Hazlemere Church of England School we believe that every child must be provided with opportunities to develop socially, emotionally, academically and physically to achieve the highest possible standards. We are an inclusive learning community that is forward thinking, innovative and committed to ensuring that all of our children achieve excellence as happy, enthusiastic and purposeful learners.
Pupil Premium is a government initiative that gives schools extra money in order to help children in certain circumstances to reach their educational potential. It is a known fact that some children under-achieve because of their personal circumstances. The statistics can include children in receipt of free school meals.
The government has used pupils who are entitled to free school meals and looked after children as an indicator for additional funds. Using this figure, an amount of money is paid to the school for each child in this group with the intention of it being used to raise their attainment.
At Hazlemere C of E School we use our Pupil Premium to ensure that the needs of every individual learner can be met and that any barriers to education or development resulting from socio-economic disadvantage are identified and effectively addressed. In this way, we ensure that any difference in achievement and life chances between those children who are disadvantaged and other learners, is diminished and the doors of opportunity open to all our children.
This strategy is evidence-informed and aligned with the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF’s) tiered approach—focusing on high-quality teaching, targeted academic support and wider strategies to overcome non-academic barriers.
The Governing Body will monitor the spending of pupil premium funds and will ensure that the funding has been used to close the gap in outcomes for eligible children against those of their peers. We will also ensure that there is information on the school website outlining how the funds have been spent in line with requirements published by the Department for Education.
Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant Strategy and how we allocate the funding.
