Toy Museum Workshop

To support the teaching of our cross-curricular topic of ‘Toys’, Year 1 recently enjoyed a wonderful and engaging workshop. It was delivered by the Amersham Museum staff and they taught us lots about traditional toys.

We got a chance to play with lots of traditional toys such as the cup and ball, spinning top, yoyo and some older bears and dolls. We talked about the materials they were made of and what might be the same and different about toys today. To finish off the workshop, we got to make our own toys – including a thamautrope (optical illusion), cup and ball and little peg doll.
